Friday scores were just as good as Thursday.

Well were you surprised about the second day of low scoring at the Open Championship.  More rain fell on Royal Lytham and there was very little wind to be found.  Even standing water in the bunkers.  Brent Snedeker with a smooth 64 after a 66 on Thursday deserves to sleep on the lead at the halfway point.  Adam Scott did not disappoint with a 67 today, maybe he is really maturing in front of our eyes.  Even Tiger finished strong with two birdies on the last three holes kept to his game plan by hitting fairways and greens.  It looks like Jason Dufner  may be around at the top of the leader board this weekend also.  I really like Dufners game, he is steady and should be a great contributor at the Ryder Cup this fall.  Graeme McDowell (-4) and Ernie Els(-3) are still in the mix and add some pop to the late day pairings.

I was not surprised to see Tom Watson make the cut today.  He will always be one for me to cheer for.  John Daly made it also.  Now we can see more flashy outfits this weekend.  I wasn’t surprised to see Phil Mickelson miss the cut.  I read a stat today that Phil has failed to break par in 11 out of his last 13 rounds.  I also saw Butch Harmon working with Phil on the telecast today.  Things need to get better in Mickelsons world soon with the PGA, Ryder Cup and FedEx Cup coming just around the corner.

My pick for the week Justin Rose is off for the weekend, shooting 74-70.  Oh well nobody said this was going to be easy.  Mybe we will finally see some crazy weather on Saturday?
